I commiserate with the family of The Distinguished Senator Olabiyi Durojaiye, the people of Ijebu-Igbo in particular and the entire Ogun State people in general on the passing of their patriarch who transited unto glory on Tuesday 24th August, 2021 at the age of 88 years.
The passage of Baba is a personal loss to me because the late 4th Republic Senator was a father figure to me. He was very supportive in my quest to represent the good people of the Lagos East Senatorial District in the Senate and played a great advisory role after my victory.
We remained in touch up till August 7, 2021 when I assured him via telephone conversation that I will visit him on my return from vacation abroad on August 24th, 2021. However, I was saddened to learn of his passing on August 24th when I arrived in Nigeria.
Papa was an astute progressive and elder statemen who gave his best to the service of the nation. He stood like a rock of Gibraltar against the vicious military dictatorship as one the prominent leaders of the National Democratic Coalition, NADECO who fought the military to stand still.
He has left enviable legacies as a Federal Legislator and later as Chairman of the Nigerian Communication Commission, NCC.
I pray that Almighty God grants Papa eternal rest, and gives the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Adieu Papa!
